Wouldn't work.  The stanchions have a funny bracket shape that doesn't allow
them to be rotated.  It's not the stanchions themselves that bend, it's the
bracket they're attached to that bends when you press them inwards.

Might you not unthread the lifelines and simply rotate the slightly bent
stanchions through 180 degrees then let the dock- hands do the bend back on
your behalf?
