[C320-list] Replacement window curtians

Here's what we have done. I think I mentioned this in the past.

Our pleated shades were stained, dirty, stretched out, hard to fold, just like yours.
You can make them like new this way:

- Remove the screws and take them home.
- Fill the bathtub with a few inches of really hot water
- Pour in a little laundry soap and 1/2 cup of bleach and stir it around to get it mixed in well.
- Put the shades in and carefully swish them around for a while then let them soak for an hour or so, maybe a *light* scrub if necessary.
- Rinse them really well and blot them dry with a bath towel (handle carefully).
- Spray/soak them liberally with laundry spray starch or sizing from a pump spray bottle if you have the liquid form.
- Fold them up and use an medium-hot Iron to press firmly while in the folded position. (not too hot, you just want to heat them enough to get them drying).
- Keep them folded tightly until they're dry, maybe putting a board with weight or something on them to keep them pressed. (avoid anything that might stain when in contact with the damp shades).

Ours went from looking like ^$%* to really nice and bright. The starch made them crisp and fold easily again.
You can easily replace the Velcro tabs using Iron-on Velcro cut into rounded squares from a fabric store (or sewing them on will last longer).

Presto, New stuff. We all like new stuff of course. :)

Hey All!
My wife and I are often frustrated by the Velcro retainer straps on the window shades. We always close the shades when we leave to keep the cabin a bit cooler and to keep the stuff in the cabin from fading from the Sun.When we get to the boat and ready it, opening the shades can be a two person job to hold the shade folded/collapsed and then beat on the Velcro retainers until they hold. The long one over the Galleyoften pops open randomly.
Anyone replace the shades or the straps?
Regards,~g
