[C320-list] Re. loose-footed main & Dutchman

Hey Warren and Pattie!
We just had our original Main cut to be loose footed and the sail Maker (Chuck from Chesapeake Sails) suggested leaving the section of the foot where the bolt rope contained the Dutchman pockets so that I could thread them on the Boom. We've only been out once (last Saturday) with the updated Main and the flaking system worked great. The jury is out on whether the old sail being loose footed has significantly improved the ability to adjust the flatness of the Main. We were thinking that the foot bolt rope was holding the outhaul back. We thought that cutting it free would allow the Main to be stretched tighter, but the bagginess of the old main is still present.Maybe next year, a new Main... Last year was a new Jenny and this year a new Dodger and maybe an Asym, if the Boss allows... :)

For what it's worth, my sail maker went with the other arrangement and
it works well too. There is enough tension on the foot even with the
outhaul eased a little for the dutchman to work well.
