[C320-list] Replacing exhaust hose

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the input. Based on one of your previous postings I had planned
on using the Trident Series 252 Corrugated Marine Hose between the mixing
elbow and the muffler. For some reason, I thought the corrugated hose was
only for short straight runs when actually it was the hose listed above the
Series 252 in the Defender catalog which restricted to short straight runs.
So I will also be using the Series 252 Corrugated Marine Hose for the entire
run. Does the corrugated hose use special clamps?

I second the corrugated hose. It's sold under a different name in the US. I
installed the flexible corrugated exhaust hose, Trident/Shields 252 series I
think for the short section between the riser and the muffler. If I need to
replace the exhaust hose itself, it'll be this stuff. So much more flexible
and nice smooth interior wall.

It's a bunch of money however, but it's just one of those things I will pay
the difference in order to get the product I want on my boat. It seems to
absorb a lot of vibration so might be easier on the muffler fittings than
the old style rigid hose.

All,

I need to replace the exhaust hose on Odyssey, hull 688. Last weekend I
reviewed the routing, in particular the relatively tight loop in the stern
before the exhaust thru hull. If the new exhaust hose is anywhere near as
stiff as the current one, I question whether I have the strength to route
it. Maybe the hose has stiffened over the last 17 years. I would
appreciate any information that anyone can contribute regarding replacement
of the exhaust hose from the muffler to the thru hull. Thanks.
