The second year we had our 320 (14 years ago,) we had an overheating event. Of course, it happened in a blow with heavy following sea. Turns out there were 7 blades from 3 impellers (different colors) from the previous owner. They had just worked into a configuration in the front of the heat exchanger that blocked water flow. I resolved to change every year. 
Except last year that is as the impeller looked just fine, so I used it again. In the Fall when I pulled it to inspect, I found all 6 blades were cracked. Back to yearly replacement. Why risk it? As a post script, we use about 100 hrs/yr.
