If you use 6-56 to protect your engine block, be sure to thoroughly remove all such stuff by wiping with a solvent (mineral spirits, MEK, acetone, etc.)

Warren,
Thanks for the note. What I’ve discovered is the matching paint is not available in the US, found it in the UK but its aerosol. So, I did some research and found that you can buy similar colors made for high temps and engine blocks but also an aerosol. I want something I can brush on. I contacted an automotive paint supply company and he said that standard auto body paint will work fine on the engines, not exceeding 200 degrees he said it would work fine and he knows people use it on the engine block. When you buy it in a can they can match the color, so I scrapped off a chip of paint and going to take it to them to match.

That’s the plan will let you all know how it goes. The key is to protect the rusty spots before they get worse, so using the 6-56 is a great, easy way of doing it as well.

The exhaust elbow I recently replaced was also a non-matching blue. Down another knotch. I, too, have some bare spots; but, have chosen, up to this time, to use CRC 6-56 protect them. In fact, I use 6-56 on the entire engine (as much as I can access) when winterizing to protect from further corrosion. This seems to work well.

Using a spray can will make a mess and was hoping to brush it on. I'm wondering if anyone has already done this and where they purchased the matching paint. Thanks for your help.
