Tim,
I am working the same project. Chips on the stern right on the edge. I used Evercoat Marine polyester gelcoat repair paste that came in a kit. The paste is thick enough to hold its shape on corners. The downside is you have to mix to match the color. I start by mixing the bright white into the clear gelcoat paste, then I take a drop of blue, red, and yellow pigment and mix it in a separate waxed paper cup. I then use a clean tooth pick to put a minimal amount of color and then add it to the white gel paste until I can’t tell the difference between the hull color and new gelcoat mix. Works fairly well. The kit comes with plastic sheets to place over the repair to get a smooth finish. There are some great videos online that teach various techniques for making such repairs. Best of luck!
