Nope.  It probably won't work.  Not saying that definitively, but I haven't seen mine work on land ever.

An intermittent fault is most likely a connection issue. Check the connection behind the instrument, then look for a terminal board down in the locker or a junction near the instrument where a P.O.may have made a splice. Other possibilities are a wire chafe if any part of the run from the pod to where the instrument wire goes into the base of the Edson wheel in the aft cabin runs outside a loom and across a sharp edged surface. In either case any movement of the wire at the location of the fault will produce an intermittent reading.

If you are getting an intermittent reading while the vessel is not in motion and without the engine running, I would send the instrument head to Raymarine to be checked.
