I received the same letter. Could not understand the increase in fees so I checked around. The Marine Document Center will file your paperwork for you and the additional cost is their profit. They did not get me. The renewal is easy and no need to pay someone else to prepare it. Scam

I just received a letter from the Maritime Documentation Center for my
yearly documentation. The cost of the documentation is $75 for one year
whereas it is normally $25 per year through the government. It is very
probable that this is a scam site as usually the site ends in .gov. If you
checkout the "Maritime Documentation Center" there are quite a few
complaints that it is a scam, so beware!
