[C320-list] Restricted hot water to galley sink

As for the "significant restriction" you describe when trying to push water through the line when flushing the tank, there is an inline, one-way anti-siphon valve in-line at the top of the tank. I am wondering if you are trying to push against that... If you have not taken the valve out, do so and try again with the flush.

I would then recommend first ensuring that the filter at the water pump is cleaned out. If you feel that you have to remove the tank then thoroughly flush it out as lots of sediment builds up over the years, especially from the bits of plastic that fell into the water tanks as Catalina did the cutouts on the top of the tanks for access ports. That said, I can't imagine a situation where you'd have so much crud in the tank that it would clog the tank like you are describing; 6 gallons of crud doesn't make sense to me. My sense is that your hot water line is clogged somewhere along the run but since you are seeing the same thing from the head and cockpit shower, again, I would start at the filter at the pump then work your way towards the hot water heater to the hot water outlet line from the hot water heater. Removing the tank is not a job for the faint of heart so I would recommend making that a last step.

Subject: [C320-list] Restricted hot water to galley sink

Thanks for the suggestions! I checked the flow of the hot water and cold water in the head and the cockpit shower. The conditions were the same - fine for cold and restricted for hot.
I removed the drawers and under sink frame (thank you for whoever suggested that!) and tried to flush the hot water tank. There was a significant restriction on the hose trying to push water through the tank. When I undid everything and ran the hot water again the pump struggled to prime itself yet primed right away when running cold water.
The hot water tank is 18 years old so I’ve surmised that there is gunk (aka: rust) in the tank clogging things up so am going to replace the hot water tank entirely.
Thanks all - love the C320 Assn!
