I did it about 3 years ago and it was EASY, if it runs but doesn't pump it simply the rubber diaphram and from what I remember the kit was WAY cheaper than the replacement. The hardest part is getting the pump out of its hiding place, like Jack said, get to it by way of the aft cabin.

I just replaced my shower sump pump. I used the Jabsco shower/general purpose pump from Defender for $139. It works fine and is much quieter than the old one, which I believe was original.

I found the easiest way to do it was to remove the top drawer from the aft cabin, about a dozen screws. You can easily reach everything you need. At 6’2” and 210, there was no way I was fitting through the access door in the head.

Shut off the through hull, of course, then remove the three screws holding the unit to a wooden block. Then remove the hoses. They came off surprisingly easy after loosening the hose clamps. Then cut the electrical wires. Reinstall the hoses on the new unit and new filter (which comes with the pump)  while it’s still free and also reconnect the positive and negative wires.

Then use those three screws to clamp down the new pump and voila, you’re done.
