[C320-list] Cockpit drain question

I may ask Catalina about them?  At a minimum I will replace the "T" with a "Y" and might replace with smooth tubing but I just don't see them working unless you heel often in bad weather.  If rain/weather is that bad I would not likely have sails up and heel much??  If in seas bad enough for a wave to fill cockpit I assume most would go out transom?  That little bitty hole would be some help I suppose.
Probably end up re-doing them and "try" to keep them clear (just to keep boat "original").
Had to ask.
Thanks,

They are there to let water drain from the corners when the boat is
heeled. I think it's more a matter of comfort than safety since a really
big sea would mostly drain out the back. However if they were not in the
early boats I suspect that Catalina got at least some feedback that
there was a need. I do a reverse flush of them whenever I get a chance.
It's amazing how much gunk comes out, especially the first time each Spring.
