[C320-list] Balmar regulator

Ours is installed on the bulkhead just above the engine compartment and below the companion way.  The display is very visible which has aided diagnostics a couple of times.  We also added a switched input that allows us to cut the power 50% and a plexiglass cover (vented) to prevent dirt building up on it.

Everything I read was to NOT install it in the engine compartment because of the heat.  Teh regulator is air cooled and has been found to have issues if the regulator heats up.
By "engine Compartment" I think they means the enclosed part where the engine is.  Anyplace outside f that is preferred.
The stock harness is only 54" long.  I was thinking of getting the longer harness and installing where the bilge pump is but I have not measured the distances so not sure where to place it yet.

This is NOT that major of a question but I will likely not relocate it once installed so trying to have it out of the  compartment, away from heat, and easy access (if that is even a concern).

Again, not a big issue but just looking for ideas I may not have thought of.

Thanks,

Why would you not put it in the engine compartment. On the port wall at the top?
