[C320-list] Fouled Prop?

Joe,

The only thing that works for sure is a bag of water over the prop or a diver to scrape. Even my diver told me the best and most expensive products quit after a few months. He also said that the cheapest being Pettit is the worst product.
He put Lanacote on mine after scraping but a month later he said a few places were showing less growth but didn't hold well on painted surfaces.

Joe:
Please be sure not to dive on the boat in the marina in case some dock neighbor has electrical problems. I experienced your symptoms about 3 years ago and found I had line wrapped around the shaft. I was able to clear it by putting it in reverse long enough to free up the shaft and then forward. Later, I was able to dive on the boat and cut the line loose.
Good luck

So what do you recommend as an alternative Gene? Are they all crap? The
Petit hi-zinc paint (which I assume is what we are talking about) has
been more effective for my location and use pattern than anything else
I've tried, but it's true that if you let the boat sit then stuff will
still grow on it. I switched to the Petit paint after several years
trying to use Prop-Speed. It required professional application and was
very expensive and it didn't protect my prop from serious growth. (Maybe
it would have worked better if I used the boat every week.) As a result,
most of it got scraped off along with the barnacles after about 6 weeks.
At least the Petit stuff is relatively cheap.
