David I just had mine off this winter to have rebuilt Hull #30 .  J. Gorden & Gordon Inc in Annapolis rebuilt mine.  Looks like new now.  This saved me from having to find a replacement that would fit.     The compass is held in by 4 long screws on the outed edge of the bezel.  Do not confuse those with the ones on the inner edge close to the compass globe.   Remove the 4 screws the compass will lift straight up.  You will then see the wires for the compass light.  You should see a plastic/rubber connector.  Disconnect the wires and your done. Tony    -----Original Message-----

Subject: [C320-list] Remove compass - Danforth Constellation

I have a 1994 C320 (Hull 131) that has a Danforth Constellation compass on the binnacle.
The compass has seen better days, so I’m replacing it. Here’s my question: How do I remove it? I’ve loosened the two outer screws on the cowl (hood) ring, and all of the inner screws, as well. Unfortunately, the cowl won’t budge.

Has anyone here removed one of these compasses? I don’t want to force it, for fear of damaging the binnacle. Any suggestions appreciated.
