[C320-list] Furling Woes

Joe,

I have read all the responses of the very knowledgeable others. From what
I read in your problem is that this is new to you. Also, you have only once
furled it completely covering the sail. From my end I have
occasionally/rarely had the barber pole effect but that went away after
unfurling and furling again. I don't remember the conditions that caused
the barber pole effect.

Question (perhaps I missed this fact): Is this a new sail that maybe
doesn't have enough of the sun shield? How much depends on the size of the
sail and maybe the wight of the sailcloth. Most sail makers know how much
to put onto the sail but that doesn't mean others get it right. Maybe
others in the group have data and specs on how much sun shield width is
required.
