[C320-list] Access to holding tank pump out and vent connections

You may have a clog in the vent hose which could have caused the hose to come apart at the vent. That's accessible behind the medicine cabinet. Note that the factory used a larger diameter vent hose, then reduced it with a smaller hose inserted in it in order to fit on the vent barb.

We replaced the vent hose and vent fitting on the side of the boat with a forespar 3/4" open unit so that the vent would do its job much better without needing to reduce the vent line. Totally cured the smell when flushing, but then we only use fresh water flush, so that helps too.

Subject: [C320-list] Access to holding tank pump out and vent connections

We are out cruising and getting terrible odors in the cabin ( especially the aft cabin, through the closet ) whenever we flush. I had the yard replace all hoses two years ago. I’m thinking a hose clamp has slipped. We pumped out yesterday and that went fine. There is no evidence of leakage into the bilge. I tried to get access by removing the medicine cabinet but couldn’t figure out how to remove it without first removing the four hoses in there. And since I wasn’t sure I could get them installed again I quit for now. (Don’t want to end up with disfunctional head while cruising.) Is there a trick I’m missing?
