Dow Corning 795 may be better for that.  It is recommended by and available from Catalina Direct.  I used it to install 4 new stationary elongate cabin windows and to install a new lens in my cabin top Bomar hatch.  It works great and was easy to work with (albeit messy - just need to plan accordingly).
