I once had this problem and found it was caused by a low water flow rate. I cleaned the screens on the pump and in the faucet and all was good

I wished to replace mine because it would not switch between shower and normal (stuck on shower), so I bought a new unit—the same model and manufacturer. And guess what? It won’t switch between the modes, still stuck on shower. So don’t just buy a replacement.
