[C320-list] Running engine with seacock off?

forgetting to open the seacock and remembering once the engine starts to
come up to temp is not going to impact your engine unless you overheat the
engine. I would also hope that your raw water impeller spinning in a
'vacuum' of seawater is also not going to be adversely affected...unless
your impeller was already on its last legs.

What is a major area of concern is running an internal combustion engine
into an exhaust system made of rubber hoses and a fiberglass muffler.
These items are not designed for those temperatures and need the mixture
of raw water that comes in at the mixing elbow in order to avoid damage.

How long can you go without doing damage? I do not know. I do wonder
sometimes if the muffler failures many experience at the seam of the
muffler isn't due to heat cycling and whether forgetting to open the
seacock accelerates the demise of these mufflers.

Just a thought..,you are probably fine...
