I don’t claim to understand the intricacies of refrigeration. All I know is that the tiniest ingress of dirt or moisture can cause a major degradation.

Main point I want to make is that I replaced my evaporator and compressor/condenser in a day, easily, with a new (less power hungry) combination and the entire kit cost me under the equivalent of 1000 USD. You can spend a lot on servicing and repair and possibly only delay the inevitable.

Obviously you may choose to spend a lot more on new kit if you want bells and whistles but it can be done on a budget
