Yikes...I was not expecting that level of corrosion.   We are spoiled, our
boat has always been freshwater kept, it’s about an hour sail south of us
before we get to brackish water and then another 7 hours or so to get to
where the salt line really sits.    I always forget what a number salt does
to things.   My guess is that simply salt air and salt creep would work
that level of corrosion in 25 years.

We keep most of our wet stuff over in the other locker...you know...near
the fuel tank because that's super smart, best place to encourage
corrosion....sigh...everything on a boat is a compromise.

BTW...for what it’s worth.  I have sorta looked at some of the replacement
units in the past out of curiosity.   I believe some of them come with
sealed lines so you don’t need to be an HVAC expert to install them.
