I tried a similar device and after trying three different locations I couldn't get it adjusted so it wasn't either too tight or too loose.  Too tight meant it was hard to maneuver quick docking and you know what too loose meant-throttle walk.  My solution is to keep it "loose" and use a velcro strap to hold position/extended times at higher rpms.  The Edson folks tell me I should replace cables (any time over 10 years in salt water is the recommendation) but I'm avoiding for now.  Neil Kornblatt  2004 Harmony #973.

This hasn’t come up in a while, so I thought I’d post concerning ’throttle walk’, the tendency of a throttle to slide back toward idle while powered under way. Adelante recently started exhibiting symptoms of throttle walk. Here’s my solution: 

SeaStar makes a ’throttle brake’. It’s basically a metal bracket with a screw that pinches the throttle cable sheath to increase friction on the cable to keep it from sliding. It is best installed over the outer sheathing, close to the engine. Took about ten minutes to install, and does a nice job.
