[C320-list] Holding tank monitor recommendations needed

The system I bought four years ago has a short sensor installed atop the tank. It was touted as being less prone to clogging, since the float doesn’t touch the black water until the level gets high enough.
It was a mistake. 
In practice I want to know quarter-full, then half-full, etc. Not “uh-oh, it’s almost completely full!”
My recommendation: Look for a noncontact sensor glued to the side of the tank.
