Looks can be deceiving. The only way to be certain is to load test the
rigging. You compare the actual failure load with the specification for the
rigging. As it is destructive testing, it is only useful to confirm your
decision. I believe http://charlestonsrigging.com/ has the equipment to do
load testing.

Best practice is still inspection and recommendation of an experienced
rigger.
