Just a thought...rather than reinventing the wheel

In the USA do you have access to Safetrx?  Our national yachting association has adopted it and it is now the primary means for the coastguard to access details of a boat for SAR purposes replacing a previous system we had where we registered boat Identification details (hull colour, sail colour, ermergency equipemt carried etc)   directly with the coastgauard.

But in relation to this thread it allows sharing tracking of your boat or a group of boats, throughout a cruise.

In principle I don’t suppose there is any reason why the UK version couldn’t be used anywhere in the world. But maybe the AYA offer the same thing?

PS. All marinas now closed over here due to the Coronavirus lockdown. If your boat isn’t already on the water on a private mooring you’re not going sailing :-(
