[C320-list] Fuel Issue Resolution - Hopefully

Are you sure you don't have a pump on your Racor primary?
It would be on the top of your Racor unit looking like a white knob.
You unscrew it and pull it up.
I open the bleed screw on the secondary engine mounted filter and use the
pump to bleed the air. Takes so little effort I don't know why Racor would
say not to use it.

FYI:
On the Yanmar 3gm30f engine, there is an engine mounted fuel pump that has a
little manual pump rocker lever on it. If you push it and it feels like it
isn't doing anything, you need to turn over the engine just slightly. This
fuel pump is an engine-driven cam-activated pump. If the engine stopped with
the pump sitting on the high side of the cam lobe, the manual pump lever
will do nothing. Need to rotate the crank a few degrees then the manual
pump there will work great.

Jeff, definitely helps!

I don't have a Racor pump on the primary Racor fiter assempbly, will look
into this.

The 12V fuel pump would only be used to bleed the system?

For a 12V power supply, I plan to install a Borel Hot Water temperature
alarm on my exhaust hose after I install my new Hump hose, And connecting to
the M30 engine harness, one of the connections (9 of 12 used) has 12V from
battery to Control Panel to Starter motor when the ignition switch is turned
on. So this power location would be real close to 12V fuel pump. I can
send a photo & sketch of wiring harness.

I like the squeeze bulb idea.

Have you had success with the remote starter?
I could only get on connection on the M30 starter solenoid due to no room at
all and one connection on the battery. The M30 turned sluggishly and
battery wire got hot, so I stopped & ran up & down turning the M30 over (
like a nut. If I could find someone I could pay to help me, I would throw
money at them).

Thank you again! More of plan to solve this problem when it happens to me.

Bob,

According to the Racor guide, the Racor pump should only be used to bleed
the Racor filter. Take that for what it is worth. So, I opened the vent
screw on the Racor and used the Racor pump to get good flow with no bubbles
at the Racor. After that, I used my lift pump. First, I completely removed
the bleed screw (3/4" box end) from the on-engine filter housing, so I could
see if there were any bubbles at all. I pumped about 5 - 10x after the
bubbles stopped to be completely sure, and then kept pumping as I
re-installed the screw. Then, I moved to the injector pump screw (8mm, if I
recall correctly) and did the same thing. Finally, when I opened the
injector cap, I had someone turn the engine over until I saw good fuel
spitting out. I have a remote starter but it is easier with a buddy.

Now, after I reassembled the system, a different boat owner stopped by and
told me he installed a squeeze bulb in his fuel line entering into the
Racor. I am fairly confident my fuel lines are 5/16" (if anyone can confirm,
that would be great). I might do that at the next filter change in place of
an electric lift pump. The other option is to install a Facet cube 12v fuel
pump without a positive shut-off valve. They run between $50 - $60. I am on
the fence about doing this, mainly because I do not no where I could connect
the positive wire. I could run it to the starter battery (with a fuse in the
system).

Hope this helps,
