Drain some of the coolant out at the black plastic tap behind the oil filter. It has a plastic pipe on it which you can direct into a bottle.
Once the new sensor is fitted just replace it at the top via the filler cap.

Thank you for taking a moment to read this..
New CAT320 owner and new member of this forum..

Jost got my 2004 Catalina 320 and the owner advised me with a problem with
the Yanmar Engine temp reading. Using this forum I was able to determine
that I have a faulty sensor and I got the right sensor from "catalina
direct"... so I am all set to go.

By looking where and how the sensor is mounted I would imagine that by
removing the old one coolant would start to leak and I don't want to
replace the coolant now.

So, here it is the question: Can I remove the sensor, drain from there what
comes out as coolant, replace the sensor with the new one  and then put
back the old coolant in? I don't think I have seen any previous posts
discussing this..

Thank you in advance for your help.
