Bear has a cradlepac from Doyle. Due to freezing waters in The Great White
North, she has to come out of the water every fall, and the club requirement
is that masts come down prior to haulout. Thus I have a full winter
frame/cover that cannot be installed with the mast up. My process is to:

disconnect the lines from the cover and secure them to the mast

disconnect the sail from the mainsail cars

untie the line securing the cover to the front of the boom

place a strap around the boom and the in-place cover/mainsail a bit forward
of halfway

connect the main halyard to the strap

tension the halyard and the topping lift for a parallel-to-deck position for
the boom

disconnect the vang at the mast and compress

while adjusting the halyard/topping lift appropriately to remove pressure on
the boom retaining pin, remove the pin and let the boom swing free

secure lines and vang to the boom

adjusting halyard and topping lift as required pull the boom towards the
stern until the front will drop into the open companionway

ease the boom with vang, main, and cover attached into the cabin and forward
so that the front is in the vberth and rear resting on the sink

disconnect halyard and topping lift and secure to the mast

leave the strap in place for reuse in the spring install of the boom

This has been done for several years with only two people, but now in my mid
60's we have discovered it is easier with three.
