[C320-list] Oil seal on gear housing leaking

That's of course the correct way!  My liquid gasket fix was only to seal the cover in the middle of a mini-cruise and I never went back and swapped out the inner seal...

It is called the camshaft seal. It was about 3 dollars. I got it from Toad Marine. Easy to install. Just pull out the old one. Slide the new one over the shaft and tap it flush using a socket. Worked perfectly.
