[C320-list] Reefer Drain

Greg,

I have the same set up on my boat a 2007 model hull 1122 and have just installed a covered water proof toilet roll dispenser adjacent to the sink below the shower pump switch. When I cut the hole for the toilet roll dispenser it gave very good access to the diaphragm pump you can’t get to.

You could consider doing this modification to avoid the silly toilet roll dispenser behind the door under the vanity and at the same time improve access to your pump.

I can provide photos next time I am at the boat in a months time if that would be helpful.

Cheers, Ian Neale.

Hull #1122, Solutions.

This 2006 model had two diaphragm pumps—the bilge and the above pump. Diaphragm pumps are very prone to ceasing needing continuous cleaning. And yes both have a prefilter. My bilge pump was easily accessible, however I was tired of its problems and replaced it (at least a decade ago) with an impeller pump (the Jabsco “water puppy”). This has never ceased and has been maintenance free all this time. The prefilter still needs periodic cleaning. My shower pump ceased long ago (15 years) and is impossible to service so I haven’t used it. I do not need to pump out my fridge (is refer American for this?). We use the shower infrequently and I just bale out the shower sump box when I do. I must admit I have considered rerouting this to the bilge as it would be very easy. With COVID we had to use our own shower more frequently this year motivating me to do something more. So this year I may disassemble the head vanity, remove this diaphragm pump and replace it with an impeller pump and redesign the space/setup to make it more serviceable.
