[C320-list] Engine Soundproofing

I'm looking for thoughts on the best soundproofing for the engine.  

A few years ago I installed the think, very heavy stuff that most marine
stores sell. 

The material and the glue that was used to install it are now deteriorating

Some was actually hanging on the engine so I removed what was hanging down.


I was never crazy about this material as it made the two removable engine
covers much heavier.  

 

There are engine soundproofing products available for automotive
applications, such as Dynamat, Hushmat, and Lizard Skin. 

These products are much thinner/lighter but I don't know how they compare to
the material available from the marine stores.     

 

Has anyone on  this list tried these other products and, if so, what were
your results?
