The far easier solution for me is to simply drain and refill the engine reservoir every 1-2 years. It insures that my coolant remains effective without the need to get all of the liquid out and new liquid back in. The key to coolant is keeping the PH correct (which prevents corrosion), which you can easily check with test strips purchased at the auto parts store. You can also check for freeze point with a floating ball tester, also available at the auto parts store. I find this simpler than waiting many years until the entire amount of coolant shows a lower PH and is entirely spent. So, if you are doing a coolant change from a prevention standpoint, something to consider.
