Hey Tom,

My plan is a few years behind you but at some point I’m hoping to sail out of Lake Michigan through the eastern Great Lakes and then down the east coast to the warmer waters in Florida and the Bahamas.  What can you tell me about your route and your canal plan through New York? (I’m guessing your going that way and not the St Laurence.)  I’m not a real big fan of heading through Chicago and Down the Mississippi……considering engine hours, river debris, etc.   What I your plan departure date from the east coast in terms of balancing hurricane season and the late fall weather?

‘ appreciate any advice you can give me on the topic.
