Bill,

I installed an Autoprop H5 over 23 years ago based on reviews from
Practical Sailor in 1995. In those years, I was on an inland lake and did
not race, but I know I picked up some speed. My main motivation was for
backing and the Autoprop was reportedly (and in my experience) far superior
to the original prop regarding power and walk.

In the intervening years, the only maintenance I have done is to hose out
the bearings when hauled (average of once every 3 years) and to replace the
prop zinc. Hosing the bearings was really just a feel good experience,
they were always free. Overall a very positive experience.
