[C320-list] Disabling leaky water heater

I only turn it on a little before I need it because, otherwise, it's too damn hot. I'd waste a lot of water mixing it for a good temperature.

Good morning Ken. Yours is an approach I have not heard of. I live aboard Whisper #772 in Seattle and I leave my hot water switched "on" 24/7.

On #765 all ac circuits have switchable circuit breakers. When at dock and hot water is desired we turn the water heater on for about a half hour then off.
On again when needed but mostly off.

Thx for confirming that I can leave the coolant loop in the empty heater for a while. I like the idea of changing the coolant hoses and clamps when replacing the heater, I’ll do that.

One thing that struck me as odd: the heater was on whenever I had the AC power on. There is only a “reset” button on the panel. Can I simply replace that with a 15amp breaker so I can turn the heater on/off explicitly? I don’t really want hot water maintained if I’m away for weeks at a time.

Thx,
Ferris
