[C320-list] Another Autopilot followup

You'll need the Type-1 linear drive, ACU-200 (brains), EV-1 Sensor (which replaces the old flux-gate compass), Rudder Position Sensor, p70s control head. Best bet is to buy the sail kit during the time when Raymarine offers their rebates. We got back a bit of cash doing that.

The ST4000 wheel-pilot control head won't likely do the trick here unless you have the X10 or some other linear drive control pack for your existing wheel pilot. If you have the X10, then the list of parts will be a bit different than above. You'd keep your flux-gate and add a rudder position sensor, linear drive unit. So there's a less expensive route.

If you didn't want to go new, you can pick up an X10 core pack and misc. parts on Ebay quite inexpensively ($300-$800?). Buy a new Type-1 linear drive ram (or a lightly used one) and you'd be pretty much good to go.

Could probably do the whole job for ~$2K. It won't be quite as good as the ACU-200/EV-1 Sensor combo but you'll be way way ahead of the wheel pilot performance and to upgrade to newer electronics in the future is uncomplicated.

Just a thought.

Subject: [C320-list] Another Autopilot followup

In order to go from wheel to linear Autopilot I would have to: at a minimum add the linear drive (about $1800+/-?) and also replace the ACU (about $800).
Yikes. That is not including the custom mounting plate that needs to be made.
Missing anything?

Thanks,
