[C320-list] Shaft strut questions

On WindSwept (hull 246) there is a hump on the inside of the bottom directly
aft of the shaft log. The hump is a couple of inches high. I believe this
is directly above the shaft strut. Four bolts stick up from the top of this
hump with nuts and normal sized washers. The bolts are cut off even with
the top of the nuts. I am not at the boat now but estimate the bolts to be
3/8". Does anyone know how this part of the boat is constructed? Do the
bolts hold the strut in place? When viewed with the boat out of the water
the strut appears to be glassed into the hull. Is this hump part of the
hull itself or a liner? Has anyone replaced these bolts, or removed their
strut? I am asking these questions because I noticed salt buildup
indicating some type of leak. I did get some saltwater into the stern
compartment last week which may have found its way into any space between a
liner and the hull in this area if such a space exists.

Can anyone recommend a contact at Catalina to ask about this?

Thanks,

Larry Frank
