[C320-list] Dehumidifier

It appears that the Frigidaire 30 pint compressor dehumidifier has been
   discontinued.
At the dock, I set the unit on the galley counter next to the sink. It
is important to get one that has a tube that drains into the sink, as
otherwise the dehumidifier will turn off when its tank gets full.
The problem with dehumidifiers is that they are pretty big, so you may
have to look to find one that is small enough to easily store when you
are out sailing. Mine will fit in the galley sink, but the jury is
still out on whether storage there will work at larger angles of heel.
If the unit comes flying out of the sink, it is definitely going to do
some damage. Alternatively, you may be able to securely store the unit
in the hanging locker in the aft cabin. Or just put the unit in your
dockbox when sailing, since you won't be using it then anyway.
For what it is worth, I purchased a Ivation 14.7 pint compressor
   dehumidifier through Amazon. $190.

Jerry,

I have a Frigidaire 30 pint dehumidifier that I run all the time. (I am plugged
into a dock.) If we are gone for an extended period of time we put the dehumidif
ier on the galley counter and run a hose down the sink drain to get rid of the w
ater that is taken from the air. I usually go to the boat every day and so norma
lly I just keep it running while sitting on the floor and empty the holding tank
on the dehumidifier on a daily basis. (It’s a great excuse for telling my bride
, I’ve got to go to the boat - truthfully she expects it - she likes the boat as
much as I do.) I also have 2 110 volt fans plugged in, one in the v-berth and o
ne in the aft cabin to keep air circulating. The beauty of doing this is that th
e boat does NOT smell like a boat when we go down. It’s fresh as a daisy. No mol
d. No mildew. I highly suggest a dehumidifier.

It’s awful damp on the Chesapeake these days. Any recommendations for a dehumid

I always appreciate the help from forum. Thanks in advance.
