Hi Dave,
Thanks and yes it is cracked. I was able to re-inspect the strut and when I side loaded it you could see the crack opening up.
Very best,
Bruce

Warren Pandy at Cataina Yachts in Florida is who I would suggest trying to contact. However, I tried emailing him recently and received no answer about another minor topic. I think I just read about G10 being very compact and strong fiberglass recommended for backing plate material, but have no direct experience. Are they sure your crack just isn't cracked fairing? Note that the strut is bolted in place and fiberglassed in. Dave Hupe

We hauled Somerset last week and while the surveyor missed it but the shipyard caught it, the strut is cracked at the location where it is bedded into the hull. Catalina Direct is quoting the shipyard a 11-12 week delivery date. Does anyone remember the name of the extremely helpful individual at the Catalina Factory in FL? The shipyard is also offering to manufacture a new one out of G10 which would eliminate the delay and the need to for a second haul out.
Would be interested if anyone has any experience with G10 and/or if you have an opinion on this potential solution.
Thanks!
