[C320-list] Aqualift Muffler Leak

We had this several years ago and chose to get a new muffler from Catalina.
It turns out almost every 320 has a slightly different design. They require a large number of very exact dimensions from your existing muffler and even preferred that you send them your old muffler so they can duplicate it.
The new muffler works fine. Because it appeared to me that the old muffler failed from vibration, I mounted the new one on a thick rubber pad and held it down with a nylon strap rather than screwing it to the hull.

I know that others have patched the leak externally with epoxy/fiberglass and some others have just bought a different brand of muffler. Those approaches seem to work also

Rather than throwing away the old muffler, I dried it out completely, closed off one connection and sprayed inside heavily with the rubberized leak stopped spray sold to seal gutters and other such applications.
I haven't use that, but I bet it would've worked too

Subject: [C320-list] Aqualift Muffler Leak

My C320 has developed a slow leak from underneath the Aqualift muffler. My muffler is the exact dimensions of one shown on CatalinaDirect but they don’t sell them any more. I just sent an email to the Catalina Yachts parts department. I realize that this is a common repair/replacement item. Have any of you dealt with this recently? Also, I have a week long cruise planned for a couple weeks from now. Is it okay to use the boat with this leak?

Thanks to all,
Mike P.
