HI Bill,
I would not reuse the evaporator in the refrigerator/ice box and buy a whole new system. Last year I replaced the original system with a Nova Kool LT201 RT4 Ice Box Conversion Kit - Drop In Freezer. I put this DIY project in the category of I wish I had done it years earlier. It is far more efficient, much quieter and it actually makes ice. Given that the system comes pre-charged with all of the tubes that you need the hard part of drawing down a vacuum and then adding the gas is done for you.

Subject: [C320-list] Adler/Barbour refrigerator
When I purchased #240 it only had the evaporator section of the Adler Barbour system, no compressor section. So currently I have 12V wires and plugged male and female tubing connections in the port locker. The tubing is still connected to the evaporator in the refrigerator/ice box.
To restore the system do I just need to connect a new compressor or do I need to start with a new evaporator/tubing in addition to a new compressor? Is this a DIY job?
