Is your rigger saying there was no crevice corrosion or were they saying
the corrosion was due to the bad weld?  I would think that a bad weld would
accelerate corrosion and you would still notice corrosion at the weld.
Was that the case or was this literally a crack that weakened due to
ductile loading over time?   This last scenario is really scary because it
would be really hard to detect and predict…
