Jeff,

As a point of curiosity about your stability rating: Do you have the fin keel or wing keel?

Subject: [C320-list] ORR/ORC Certificate

To all who might be interested,

I am currently working to get my boat ready to enter the Newport to Bermuda race. One of the requirements is to have the boat measured and inclined. This process was completed on Wednesday. The certificate will be loaded at some point in the ORC database. The measurements and stability rating will be there for you to see or use. By the way, the minimum stability needed to complete the race to Bermuda is 115, and our boat rated 118.8. The inspector was actually pretty surprised.

Over the next month or so, I may ask for recommendations about how I can meet the safety inspection checklist. As one example, “a boat’s hatch boards, whether or not in position in the hatchway, shall be secured in a way which prevents their being lost overboard.” I am trying to figure out how to do this with the minimum amount of damage to the boat. Right now, I am thinking about adding barrel bolts to each of the hatch boards that extend past the channel.

Cheers,
Jeff
