I just bought a 2004 C320. Are the Seaward leakage problems referenced
earlier applicable to this year of production? Thanks

Unless you are living on the boat I see no reason to leave the hot water
heater breaker on. When cruising the engine will keep the water hot for
a night and when you put the breaker on it heats up pretty rapidly. My
tank ports have plumbers tape around them and they seem ok

I was planning to look on the internet for a used 100-110% jib for
winter
sailing on my 94 C320. Does anyone know the forward triangle
measurements
off hand. Save me a trip to the boat. Darrell, Antares #88

Chris - I can address both of your issues from my perspective.

1. When any water is blowing off through the temperature-pressure (TP)
valve, it means the valve is faulty. They do fail fairly routinely.
Seaward will send a replacement valve for about $25 including shipping.
I
removed the entire tank to change the valve. Tank removal is NOT a fun
job.
In retrospect, I may have been able to change the TP valve by only
removing
the drawers and cabinet insert. When replacing the TP valve, be sure to
use
plenty of pipe dope. I use Real-Tuff Teflon Paste Thread Sealant from
Home
Depot as it is non-toxic, contains no lead, and works in temps from
-200F to
+550F and pressure to 10,000 PSI! A final note: I am reluctantly glad
that
I did remove the tank as I was able to dump out that last gallon or 2 of
water from the bottom of the tank that collects over the years and never
purges. This water was nasty smelling, nasty looking, and full of silt.

2. The inspection ports on the top of the water tanks leak regardless
of
just about anything I tried. I even used up to 12 wraps of Teflon pipe
tape
to no avail. I finally started used the Real-Tuff stuff (see above) and
no
more leaks, not even a drop! Any overflow goes where it should go, over
the
side through the overflow. For the first time since I have owned the
boat,
I have a completely dry bilge (except when the A/C is running; I haven't
yet
figured out how to get the condensate line to dump overboard versus into
the
bilge).

Hope this helps!

Sea Shadow shows I = 43 feet, 7 inches, J = 12 feet, 4 inches, P = 38
feet,

Where is your AC located? Mine is in the starboard locker and high so it

drains to a fitting in the transom by the steps.

According to SailRite, the dimensions of a 115% jib for the C-320 are:

Luff: 36.23'
Leach: 32.06'
Foot: 16.03'
L.P. 14.18'

This would give a fairly high clew on the jib (the deck angle is 12
degrees whereas their genoa has a deck angle of 4 degrees).

The I, J, P, and E dimensions are as int eh previous answer.

Told me (and I do) the same thing hull 218. I have more of an issue

I should clarify this a bit. When this problem materialized six years
ago I called Seaward. Ironically they are located very close to where I
grew up. They explained that although the problem does not exist in all
units, it is so common that in many newer (particularly larger) boats
there is an extra thru hull for this.

According to them, it does not mean that there is a malfunction in the
valve (which I replaced before talking with them) nor in the thermostat
(although he did offer to sell me a new one, he told me that it probably
would not fix the issue).

Now, the key factor is the amount of engine and/or shore power time. If
you don't use a lot of either, you won't have the problem. Again, also,
not all units will have the problem.

I have found that with running the engine about one hour per week, and
turning off the 110 when not using the boat, that the large Coke bottle
takes over a month to fill up.

By the way, tonight will be my 44 sail of the year.
