[C320-list] Inspection Port

I have a picture of just such a critter in the Sea Shadow album out on the
Catalina 320 website. I used a dremel to cut the hole, keep a rag just
inside the port on the ledge that the engine cover rests on, and use a
flashlight in one hand and pull the dipstick with the other hand.

Subject: [C320-list] Inspection Port

Has anyone installed an inspection port for checking the oil level on their
engine? Something that would eliminate the need to pull the aft engine cover
(housing) before each use. I was thinking of a 6" deckplate on the side of
the cover, as close to the oil stick as possible. Your ideas would be
appreciated. Thanks.
