allan-
my rear engine cover is thickly insulated, makes the noise factor low, can my insulation idea be combined with this dipstick port idea (by the way one of the best I have read about in awhile!) what do you think?

inside the port on the ledge that the engine cover rests on, and use a
flashlight in one hand and pull the dipstick with the other hand.

Subject: [C320-list] Inspection Port

Has anyone installed an inspection port for checking the oil level on their
engine? Something that would eliminate the need to pull the aft engine cover
(housing) before each use. I was thinking of a 6" deckplate on the side of
the cover, as close to the oil stick as possible. Your ideas would be
appreciated. Thanks.
