Hi Len, (and other GMail users)
I'll continue to look for a non-hack solution to your GMail problem,
but essentially, it is a GMail issue we cannot do anything about.
The reason why you don't get a reply to your initial message is due to a
GMail "feature". The sequence goes like this.
For a NEW EMAIL Message: ( not when replying to a message ).
=======================
1) When you send a new email to the c320-list via GMail, it gets assigned a
unique MessageID and does not get a the In-Reply-To header.
2) The list validates you, and sends the exact message back to you and
everyone else on the list.
3) GMail server gets the email and notices that it has the same MessageID as
the one you initially sent, and throws it out as a duplicate.
When you REPLY, you're adding the In-Reply-To header which GMail probably
detects and allows back in as potentially a continuation of this thread.
I like to solve the problem, however, I don't have the time to spend
hacking around this feature.
There's really no good solution yet that doesn't mess up the archive message
threading.
Sorry,
-Jeff Hare
