Chris,

I was the Commodore last year and agree wholeheartedly with Russ on his
description of the responsibilities of the Commodore. It doesn't take a lot
of time and yet is very rewarding. The organization and execution of the
Regatta is not the responsibility of the Commodore, we always look for a
volunteer or volunteers to handle the Regatta - Dick Walker is a great
example as he is running the show in San Diego in September. It's up to
the Commodore to decide how much "additional" time he/she wants to invest.
For example, this year Russ did a great job of getting Association decals
and window stickers created and mailed to all the members and did a super
job of pulling it off - did he have to do it, no, but he decided it was
something he wanted to do and invested the time .

Every organization needs leaders; it's questionable whether an organization
will continue to "live" without them. We often talk about the things that
help the resale value of the 320 and the Association is one of them. Come
on guys and gals, the C320IA needs you.

Russ,
The tasks you list are likely well within the
capabilities of most of us. Organizing and attending
the regatta is what is most problematical for me...and
I suspect many others. I am certain that it is not due
to a lack of concern.

Besides, some of us can't afford to move up to a new
and larger boat next year. ;~)

Thanks for having assumed the mantle this year.

Regards,
Chris
