Karl,
Looking for any opportunity to eliminate noise and vibration, I spoke to the
rep from PYI at Strictly Sail. He said that the distance between the strut
and the prop hub should be no more than 1.5 times the shaft diameter. In our
case that would be 1.5". He said that it is even more important to stay
within spec if you have a bronze prop shaft rather than stainless. If you
want to install the coupling, you might have to cut some length off of the
inboard end of the shaft and have a new keyway slot machined into it.
